Abstract for AMI Fire Resistance in Plastics, Dec. 2016

We are pleased to announce you that Mr. Yutaka YONEZAWA, from ADEKA COPORATION will be present at AMI Fire Resistance in Plastics, Dec. 2016, Köln, Germany

Below you can read an abstract :

Halogen-Free Flame Retardant System  For Weatherable Polyolefin Applications

Halogenated compounds are one of the most commonly used flame retardant systems for polyolefins. Halogenated compounds provide good flame retardancy, especially in a synergistic combination with antimony trioxide.  However, this system can cause serious health and environmental problems due to the evolution of corrosive and toxic smoke during combustion. Moreover, some brominated flame retardants give poor weatherability because of the deactivation of “hindered amine-type light stabilizers commonly used in polyolefins” by hydrogen bromide.

A new halogen-free intumescent flame retardant system, the “ADK STAB FP-2000 series” has been developed for polyolefins. This paper describes, among others, the weathering performance of polypropylene with this flame retardant.
