We are pleased to announce you that Mr. Yohei Inagaki, from ADEKA COPORATION will be present at AMI Fire Resistance in Plastics Virtual Summit in February 2021.

Below you can read an abstract :

EXPANSION OF POLYCARBONATE FOR THIN APPLICATIONS VIA AN ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PHOSPHATE ESTER FLAME RETARDANT TECHNOLOGY

Flame retarded PC and PC alloys are used frequently for both cases and back panel of electronic devices. BDP and RDP are common flame retardants for these polymers. As of today, a high loading of flame retardant is required to achieve the necessary requirements such as UL-94V-0 for thin application (more than 20% loading to achieve V-0 with thickness of 0.8mm). Due to these high loadings, the heat deflection temperature of the flame retarded material decrease which makes material unusable. To overcome this limitation, ADEKA has developed a new phosphate ester flame retardant which can provide improved flame retardancy compared to common FR, combined with (a) plasticizing effect. This novel phosphate ester FR has the potential to broaden application range for thin material. This paper describes the special features of this novel phosphate ester FR in PC, PC/ABS and PC/GF.
